In Israel, more than 10,500 citizens of Uzbekistan reside, as stated by Bahromjon Aloyev, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, during a Senate committee meeting on October 30. The majority of them originate from the Samarkand region, with over 95% working in elderly care in Israel.
Since the Palestinian-Israeli conflict began, 70 students from Uzbekistan studying in Israel were evacuated. Six students from Samarkand State University chose not to return. Aloyev mentioned that efforts are underway to assist these students in returning home when possible, as reported by UzReport TV.
Uzbekistan Airways continues to operate three flights per week to Tel Aviv. Aloyev explained that many citizens, especially those caring for the elderly, opt to stay in Israel due to financial difficulties, such as debts, mortgages, or car loans, incurred before their departure.
Aloyev also noted that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has repatriated embassy staff families in Israel, and currently, only five staff members, including the ambassador, continue their work in the embassy.
Regarding the presence of Uzbeks in Palestine, Aloyev stated that the Ministry lacks precise data on their numbers and whether they are still there. Based on outdated information, it is possible that some Uzbek women have married and settled in Palestine.
Earlier, Daryo reported that, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev of Uzbekistan announced a $1.5 million allocation to aid the residents of the Gaza Strip, expressing solidarity with the Palestinian people and their right to establish an independent state.
