At the beginning of a recent meeting, the President of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev expressed concern about the ongoing armed conflict between the Israeli army and the Hamas movement, which has resulted in a deepening humanitarian crisis and numerous casualties among innocent civilians. This conflict has led to the loss of lives, and homes, and the displacement of people, especially women and children.
In response, President Mirziyoyev announced the allocation of $1.5mn to the Middle East Agency of the United Nations to provide essential humanitarian aid to the people in the Gaza Strip. Uzbekistan stands in solidarity with the Palestinian people and supports their right to establish an independent state in accordance with UN resolutions.
The President emphasized the need for both parties to find a compromise for humanitarian reasons, cease hostilities, and seek a peaceful resolution. He warned that an escalation of violence could have far-reaching and unpredictable consequences, affecting not only the Middle East but also distant countries.
President Mirziyoyev highlighted the rich history of peaceful coexistence in Central Asia, where people of different nationalities and faiths have lived together in harmony. He called on all citizens, particularly the youth, to resist false propaganda and unlawful actions. Preserving peace, unity, and solidarity is crucial and a priceless asset for the region.
