Startups often face high failure rates globally, but this doesn't guarantee their demise. To succeed, a solid business plan, a clear structure, and the right motivation are essential factors.
In a recent interview with Daryo correspondent Faizan Ali, Mr. Akhtan Tumyshev, the founder of Tabee, shared insights into his mindset, strategic planning, future aspirations, and the experiences that have contributed to Tabee's success.
Tumyshev has been a staunch advocate of sustainable business models, a philosophy that underpins both of his startups. Tabee, operating as a marketplace platform, competes with well-established giants like OLX. During the interview, Tumyshev stressed his commitment to maintaining a sustainable business model, even in the face of formidable competition. He firmly believes in the societal importance of promoting sustainability, highlighting that sustainable business extends beyond environmental concerns.
“Sustainable business is not just about the environment, sustainable business model revolves around a lot of other aspects. One main aspect is providing the right education for the improvement of business stakeholders.”
According to Tumyshev, a crucial aspect of sustainability is providing the right education to enhance the skills of business stakeholders. Consequently, his organization collaborates with educational institutions, aiming to offer scholarships and global education opportunities to employees and partners.
Currently, Tumyshev's team includes two students who played a pivotal role in developing the Tabee platform. He emphasizes the significance of trusting his team with the success story of Tabee.
Tabee has been operational for over six months and has already established partnerships with over three hundred vendors across Kazakhstan. The primary objective is to support local vendors and bridge the gap between them and the global market. While Tabee's largest market is in Kazakhstan, it serves clients throughout Central Asia, with nearly 20-30 percent of its user base hailing from the USA. This American market presence is noteworthy, as it consists of a sizable Central Asian population, creating a secondary market and promoting local goods.
In the coming six months, Tumyshev plans to collaborate with the government and identify ideal partners in neighboring countries such as Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, and Kyrgyzstan to expand Tabee's presence in Central Asia. This strategic move could be a defining step for Tabee, but Tumyshev is focused on carefully building a stronger foundation and pursuing expansion within the organization.
