Representatives from the tourist and recreational zone Zaamin displayed their current and future tourism projects at the UNWTO General Assembly Investment forum on October 17 and 18. A total of $400mn has been allocated to tourism investment in the area.
Solijonov Qudrat, a spokesperson for Zaamin Tourism confirmed that a cable car had already been installed in September 2023 and that a glass bridge is currently under construction. A new 600-seater restaurant is also set to open in November 2023.
Further construction includes the conference hall ‘Palace of Conventions’, an IBC hotel, and a number of restaurants, cafes, and residential buildings. A mountain ski route is also in the pipeline but concrete plans have not yet been made.
Known in Uzbek as “Zomin”, the zone is located in the Jizzakh region of Uzbekistan, roughly 46 km from Jizzakh city. The project has been designed via collaboration with Austrian consulting company SPDM GmbH.
Often referred to as ‘Uzbek Switzerland’ for its fresh air and rare flora, Zaamin was declared a special tourism and recreational zone by the decree of the president of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev in 2021.
