In a landmark move aimed at advancing its digital transformation and strengthening its technological infrastructure, a delegation from Uzbekistan comprising representatives of the Ministry of Digital Technologies, Mobiuz mobile operator, Digital Government Management Center, and Uzinfocom, recently visited Huawei's impressive exhibition complex in Beijing, China. During the visit, both parties inked several agreements to deepen their cooperation in various technology-related fields.
Huawei, a global leader in telecommunications and information technology, showcased its vision for the digital transformation of the state, the development of a digital economy, and a digital government based on cutting-edge technologies such as 5G and 5.5G, artificial intelligence, cloud computing, green technologies for the ICT sector, digitalization of universities, industrial enterprises, and smart cities. The Chinese tech giant also presented solutions for the development of renewable energy, including public transport and the creation of fast charging stations for electric vehicles.
One of the key highlights of the visit was the meeting between the Uzbek Minister of Digital Technologies, Sherzod Shermatov, and Huawei executives, Wang Xiangfen, Senior Vice President of the company, and Wang Shunli, Vice President of the Middle East and Central Asia region. The discussions primarily revolved around expanding network access, engaging foreign investors in cloud services based on the existing data center in Uzbekistan, enhancing personnel training in Uzbekistan, and building a robust digital ecosystem.
The fruitful conversation led to a series of agreements and understandings. Notably, the Ministry of Digital Technologies and Huawei committed to developing "smart" cities and deploying artificial intelligence solutions in various sectors. They will also collaborate on training future leaders and specialists in digital transformation and implementing projects and programs in the field of IT education. A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed to promote information technology among young people and foster cooperation in other areas.
The Digital Government Project Management Center also entered into an MoU with "Huawei Tech Investment Tashkent" to boost the development of information and communication technology (ICT) in Uzbekistan, strengthen the scientific and technical capabilities of IT specialists, and enhance data processing center and cloud technology services.
Furthermore, a pivotal agreement was signed between "Universal Mobile System" and "Huawei Technologies Co.” to expand and modernize the mobile communication network in Uzbekistan. This deal aims to provide improved connectivity and services to the people of Uzbekistan, enhancing their digital experiences.
