Kazakhstan has expressed its readiness to increase oil exports to Uzbekistan if better price conditions are offered, Kazakh Ministry of Energy hass reported.
The ministry noted that oil is exported to Uzbekistan from the Shagyr oil filling station and the Kassymov oil pumping station, located in Shymkent and Atyrau respectively. The statement mentioned that if the Uzbek side offers prices and conditions better than those in China or other foreign countries, they are willing to consider increasing supplies.
In 2022, Uzbekistan accounted for 0.13% of the total volume of Kazakhstan's oil exports. The question of increasing oil supplies was also discussed between representatives of Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan's oil industry. According to the transit agreement, 79,000 tons of Russian oil have been delivered through Kazakhstan's territory since the beginning of the year.
Meanwhile, the export of Kazakh oil to Uzbekistan in 2022 amounted to 87,000 tons, and for the first nine months of the current year, it reached 46,000 tons.
According to "Vedomosti", Kazakhstan has minimized oil shipments to Uzbekistan by rail. Russian oil, which is cheaper, has taken the place of Kazakh oil, with its deliveries to the republic increasing more than fivefold to 1.2mn tons in the first six months of this year.
