Uzbekistan's national team had an eventful day on October 6 at the Asian Games in China, winning 3 more medals. Among these achievements were 2 silver and 1 bronze, contributing to Uzbekistan's fifth-place standing in the overall medal count.
The spotlight first fell on Anvar Klevleev, a member of Uzbekistan's canoe slalom squad. Klevleev showcased his incredible skills, initially finishing with a stellar time of 96.63 seconds and securing the title of Asian Games champion. However, a twist came when the jury imposed a 2-second penalty, shifting Klevleev to the second position and earning him the silver medal.
The gold went to Chinese athlete Chainasie Yuanchung, clocking in at 98.20 seconds, while the bronze was claimed by Kazakhstan's Alexander Kulikov with a time of 101.04 seconds.
Uzbekistan's silver medal count grew as weightlifter Akbar Jurayev entered the stage. Competing in the weight category up to 109 kg, Jurayev executed a snatch of 189 kg and a clean and jerk of 228 kg, accumulating a total of 417 kg. He narrowly missed the gold by just 1 kg, as Chinese athlete Liu Huanghua lifted a total of 418 kg (185+233 kg).
Furthermore, Uzbekistan's Ruslan Nurudinov, another weightlifter in the same weight category, contributed to his country's medal collection. Nurudinov lifted a total of 391 kg (175+216), securing a well-deserved bronze medal.
