During his official visit to Russia on October 5, Uzbekistan's President Shavkat Mirziyoyev held a meeting with Rustam Minnikhanov, the President of Tatarstan, in Kazan. The President's press service reported that Mirziyoyev expressed satisfaction with the high results achieved through fruitful cooperation in recent years.
Trade and investment volumes between the two countries are on the rise, with successful operations at the "Chirchik" chemical-industrial techno-park in the Tashkent region and the ongoing construction of a techno-park in the Jizzakh region. Significant cooperation projects in the chemical and engineering industries are underway, and a branch of Kazan Federal University operates in Jizzakh city.
The leaders discussed the outcomes of the third Forum of Interregional Cooperation between Uzbekistan and Russia, held in Kazan the previous day. Among the agreements reached was the creation of new industrial parks in Uzbekistan in collaboration with Russian techno-parks "Alabuga" and "Master."
They also discussed the implementation of promising cooperation projects in metal processing, information and communication technologies, housing and communal services, as well as expanding collaboration in education, tourism, and youth policy.
President Mirziyoyev visited an exhibition showcasing Tatarstan's industrial potential and met with Denis Manturov, Deputy Prime Minister of Russia and Minister of Industry and Trade.
Nearly 80 Russian regions are involved in cooperation with Uzbekistan, with one-third of them having agreements on trade, economic, scientific, technical, and cultural cooperation. Uzbekistan and Russia have identified over 60 potential joint projects in various fields, including industrial cooperation, export-import of industrial products, oil, gas, mazut, and oil service and medical services.
President Mirziyoyev also visited the State Historical and Architectural Museum-Reserve "Kazan Kremlin," where he toured the Kul Sharif Mosque and the Annunciation Cathedral. He engaged in discussions with Kamil Samigullin, the head of the Spiritual Administration of Muslims of Tatarstan, and Kirill, the Metropolitan of Kazan and Tatarstan.
Following his visit to Kazan, President Mirziyoyev will travel to Moscow for a meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin.
As part of the regional forum, agreements were signed on various initiatives, including the construction of a Wildberries logistics hub in the Tashkent region, the development of e-commerce with the Ozon marketplace, the supply of subway cars from Russia, and the exchange of expertise in water supply and wastewater treatment.
