Deputy Prime Minister of Uzbekistan, Jamshid Khojayev, Deputy Head of the Russian Government and Minister of Industry and Trade, Denis Manturov, along with the President of Tatarstan, Rustam Minnikhanov, attended the III Forum of Interregional Cooperation between Uzbekistan and Russia. During the event, significant agreements were reached to foster collaboration in various sectors.
Jamshid Khojayev conveyed President Shavkat Mirziyoyev's message, highlighting the ample opportunities for deepening investment cooperation. He urged more active utilization of advantages offered by newly established technoparks and financial support mechanisms, notably the recently instituted Uzbekistan Industrial Development Fund.
Denis Manturov presented President Vladimir Putin's greetings and stressed the importance of discovering innovative ways of working together. This includes harmonizing "roadmaps" with concrete activities to enhance interregional relations, with clear timelines for implementation.
The forum witnessed the signing of three interregional and seven commercial agreements spanning diverse industrial domains. Notably, action plans were formalized for cooperation between Fergana and Jizzakh regions and the government of Bashkortostan for 2023-2025, as well as between Surkhandaryo region and the government of Tatarstan. These agreements encompass joint project development, event coordination, and facilitating the export of various products.
Furthermore, a memorandum of understanding was inked between Tashkent's administration and the Russian firm "UK Group GMS" to share technical and technological expertise in water supply and wastewater treatment.
In the realm of transportation, an agreement was established between "Tashkent Metro" and "TMX International" for the procurement of metro cars from Russia.
Within the context of the forum, a memorandum focusing on the development of the information technology sector, the establishment of an independent ecosystem, international expertise sharing, and collaborative integration with global markets was signed between Uzbekistan's "Directorate of the Technological Park for Software and Information Technologies" and Russia's advanced technopark, "IT Park."
Furthermore, another memorandum was formalized to boost e-commerce, enhance cross-border trade mechanisms, and stimulate entrepreneurship in Uzbekistan. This agreement was established between the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Uzbekistan and the Russian marketplace Ozon. Additionally, a comprehensive action plan was devised between the Uzbek-Russian and Russian-Uzbek business councils to expand cooperation within the business communities of both countries.
