The Cabinet of Ministers has approved a plan aimed at enhancing the skills of transport sector workers and fostering innovation in the field.
As per the presidential decree on "Effective Organization of State Administration in the Field of Transport," the Ministry of Transport has established the Institute for Retraining and Skill Enhancement of Personnel in the Transport Sector.
This institute, operating as an educational center under the Ministry of Transport, is tasked with enhancing the skills of motor transport workers under the Ministry of Transport and the Center for Retraining and Skill Enhancement of Personnel in Rail Transport under relevant legal entities in the railway sector.
Currently:
- Personnel in the transport sector undergo retraining every three years based on approved training programs and curricula from the Ministry of Transport.
- Individuals who successfully complete training courses for electric vehicle drivers receive appropriate documentation.
- Final exams for state and non-state educational institutions are conducted through a dedicated electronic platform created by the Ministry of Transport.
The regulations governing the retraining and skill enhancement procedures for transport sector personnel have been officially ratified. Its primary objectives include:
- Retraining and skill enhancement of personnel, including pedagogical staff.
- Conducting innovative, fundamental, and practical research in the field of transport and implementing the results.
- Developing and implementing educational and methodological resources for the transport sector.
- Establishing and managing a continuous professional development system for specialists and creating a unified electronic platform for monitoring retraining and skill enhancement processes.
These legal documents came into effect on September 30, 2023.
On September 2022, President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev chaired a meeting aimed at expediting reforms in the transport sector. During this meeting, tasks were assigned to improve road construction, enhance laboratory work, and increase the accountability of road construction companies.
