The Investigative Committee of Russia has alleged that four military leaders from Ukraine were involved in acts of terrorism, as reported by the press service of Investigative committee.
According to Article 205 of the Russian Criminal Code, charges have been filed against the following individuals:
1. Kyrylo Budanov, the head of Ukraine's Ministry of Defense Main Intelligence Directorate.
2. Nikolay Oleshuk, commander of Ukraine's Armed Forces Military Air Force.
3. Aleksey Nyejpapa, commander of Ukraine's Armed Forces Military Navy.
4. Sergey Burdenyuk, commander of the 383rd Separate Aviation Regiment of Ukraine's Armed Forces.
"The Investigative Committee has gathered sufficient evidence that Ukraine's top military leadership was directly involved in planning and executing more than 100 air attacks using unmanned aerial vehicles in various regions, including Moscow, Moscow region the Republic of Crimea, Sevastopol, Rostov, Belgorod, Bryansk region, and several other areas of the Russian Federation, between April 2022 and September 2023," the department's statement reads.
The Investigative Committee also alleges that the perpetrators "recruited military personnel under their command for the commission of criminal acts." They are currently planning to initiate searches for Ukraine's military leaders and are considering issuing arrest warrants shortly.
Since Russia started the war in Ukraine, Russian territories, especially border regions, have experienced increased drone attacks. One of the largest drone attacks occurred on the night of August 30.
During the attacks, Russia's Ministry of Defense and local authorities reported drone strikes on defense systems in several Russian oblasts, including Bryansk, Ryazan, Oryol, Kaluga, Pskov, Moscow, and Sevastopol, a region annexed by Russia.
