Turkmen Foreign Minister Rashid Meredov discussed "issues of exchange of high-level visits" during a meeting with European Union Ambassador Beata Peksa.
The Foreign Ministry reports that they exchanged views on the development of co-operation in trade and economic, transport and transit and energy spheres. In addition, they touched upon issues of co-operation in the field of ecology and water management in the Central Asian region.
The EU said: "The 30th anniversary of the diplomatic relations between the European Union and Turkmenistan celebrated this year provided the occasion to review the progress achieved so far and make ambitious plans for expanding the cooperation".
Experts told Daryo that bilateral relations between the European Union and Turkmenistan are governed by an Interim Agreement on trade and trade-related matters, which entered into force in August 2010, pending ratification of a Partnership and Cooperation Agreement by the European Parliament.
Previously it was reported that Turkmen President Serdar Berdimuhamedov is scheduled to visit the EU headquarters in Brussels, Belgium. It is expected that the issue of options for supplying Turkmen gas to the European market will be discussed.
