The Republic of Uzbekistan's Minister of Foreign Affairs, Bakhtiyor Saidov, led a high-level delegation during their visit to the Republic of Turkey on Septmeber 26-27. The visit included the next meeting of the Uzbekistan-Turkey strategic planning group, which convened in Ankara under the leadership of the heads of foreign policy agencies of both countries, Bakhtiyor Saidov and Hakan Fidan.
The ministers deliberated on the schedule of upcoming high-level dialogues, the expansion of the contractual and legal basis of relations, and the implementation of agreements reached at the highest levels. The event concluded with the signing of a cooperation program for 2024-2025 between the foreign affairs ministries of Uzbekistan and Turkey. Additionally, a memorandum of understanding was inked between the Diplomatic Academy under the University of World Economy and Diplomacy and the Diplomatic Academy under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkey.
As part of the visit, Minister Bakhtiyor Saidov met with Cevdet Yilmaz, the Vice-President of Turkey. He also held separate meetings with Numan Kurtulmush, the Speaker of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey, Serkan Kayalar, the President of the Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency, and Nejdet Unuvar, the Rector of Ankara University. These discussions covered a broad range of topics on the Uzbekistan-Turkey agenda.
Key points of discussion included:
- Activation of economic diplomacy through the creation of favorable conditions for mutual trade.
- Expansion of cooperation in the textile industry.
- Implementation of new investment projects.
- Establishment of interregional partnership relations.
- Strengthening relations in science and education.
- Mitigating the consequences of the Aral Sea tragedy.
- Developing effective agriculture.
- Advancing parliamentary cooperation between the two nations.
Additionally, a roundtable discussion on "Crossroads of Civilizations: New Uzbekistan" took place in Ankara, supported by the Turkish Ministry of Culture and Tourism. This event, attended by numerous Turkish tourism companies, allowed Minister Saidov to provide insights into the latest trends and changes in Uzbekistan's tourism industry, as well as discuss promising areas of cooperation.
Furthermore, Minister Bakhtiyor Saidov met with leaders of several major Turkish companies. During these meetings, they explored possibilities for establishing cooperative relations and bringing advanced and innovative technologies to Uzbekistan's economy.
