Kazakhstan has plans to establish a digital archive of clinical images and reports, which will be another step towards improving disease diagnosis. Experts believe that the unified database will accelerate the medical treatment of patients, especially in remote and underserved areas. This is only a part of a more comprehensive cooperation program with GE Healthcare, the world's largest medical technology distributor.
The program includes the establishment of GE Academy, where not only doctors but also engineers in the field of medical technology will be trained.
Otolaryngologist surgeon Medet Mahanbet explains that the unified national image base will reduce the time spent on data transmission and processing, improving patient access to health care. Furthermore, large amounts of digital imagery can be used to develop AI. This machine learning algorithm can assist doctors in automatically analyzing and interpreting images and predicting disease.
As part of the investment project in partnership with healthcare authorities, the company plans to launch the production of medicines and medical equipment, reducing the cost and availability of digital diagnostics services for Kazakhstanis. According to the Ministry of Health, this will also increase the share of medical equipment production in the country by half by 2025. The localization of production, service centers for all equipment, and training of local experts are among the main directions of the investment project.
