In a significant gesture of friendship and cooperation between Kazakhstan and Türkiye, a street in Astana will be named after Anadolu, the Turkish form of Anatolia, to commemorate the centennial anniversary of Türkiye. This announcement came during a meeting between Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev and Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan on September 11.
During the meeting, President Tokayev extended his congratulations to Minister Fidan on his appointment and expressed confidence in Fidan's role in further advancing Kazakh-Turkish relations.
The year 2023 holds great historical significance for Türkiye as it marks the 100th anniversary of the Republic of Türkiye's founding, led by Mustafa Kemal Atatürk and his associates. President Tokayev emphasized Türkiye's remarkable achievements over the past century in the realms of politics, socio-economics, culture, and humanitarian efforts. He highlighted Türkiye's emergence as a respected and authoritative state on the international stage, actively participating in the resolution of regional and global challenges.
“Over the course of a century, the country has achieved enormous success in the political, socio-economic, cultural, and humanitarian spheres. Türkiye has become an authoritative state in the international arena, participating in resolving regional and global problems,” Tokayev voiced.
President Tokayev underlined that Türkiye stands as Kazakhstan's most crucial strategic partner, with bilateral relations having elevated to the status of an expanded strategic partnership.
"Türkiye is one of Kazakhstan’s four leading trading partners. Last year, bilateral trade increased by 54%, reaching $6.3 bn. We agreed to increase this figure to $10 bn in the near future. Investment cooperation between the two countries is also developing. Türkiye is among the top 10 investors in Kazakhstan. The sides are developing 36 projects worth more than $2.8 bn. We believe cooperation between the two countries has great prospects," he stated.
In response, Minister Fidan conveyed greetings from Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and emphasized the Turkish government's dedication to enhancing cooperation between the two nations. He pledged that Türkiye would spare no effort in elevating interactions within regional and international organizations to new heights. Minister Fidan disclosed that President Erdoğan plans to engage in comprehensive discussions regarding the strengthening of the strategic partnership between the two states during his upcoming visit in November, coinciding with the summit of the Organization of Turkic States.
The decision to name a street in Astana after Anadolu not only commemorates the centenary of Türkiye but also signifies the enduring bonds of friendship and cooperation between Kazakhstan and Türkiye, which continue to flourish in various domains, including trade, investment, and diplomacy. This symbolic gesture reflects the deep-rooted connection and shared commitment to fostering a prosperous and harmonious future for both nations.
