In honor of Uzbekistan's 32nd year of independence, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev issued a decree granting clemency to individuals who have shown remorse and have made a solid commitment to improving their behavior.
The decree, part of Article 109, Paragraph 23 of the Uzbekistan Constitution, grants amnesty to 286 individuals who have committed crimes.
Of those pardoned, 109 were released entirely from punishment, 116 were released on parole, and 25 had their penalties reduced to a milder sentence. Additionally, the punishment duration for 36 individuals in the form of deprivation of liberty was decreased. The pardoned group consisted of 39 women, 22 men over 60 years old, 30 foreign citizens, and 3 individuals who participated in the activities of banned organizations.
The ministries and departments responsible for this matter have been instructed to assist the pardoned individuals with social adaptation, finding valuable work, leading a healthy lifestyle, and reintegrating into society.
