On August 30, in Uzbekistan, a solemn ceremony of presenting credentials to newly appointed foreign ambassadors took place. This was reported by the President's press service.
Shavkat Mirziyoyev received credentials from the Ambassador of China, Yu Jyun, the Ambassador of Malaysia, Ilham Tuah Bin Ilyas, the Ambassador of the United Kingdom, Timothy Smart, the Ambassador of Turkmenistan, Shodurdi Meredov, and the Ambassador of Bangladesh, Muhammad Monirul Islam.
The head of state congratulated the newly appointed heads of foreign diplomatic missions on the official commencement of their work in Uzbekistan. It was noted that it is symbolic for the ceremony to be held at a time when the multinational people of Uzbekistan widely celebrate the 32nd anniversary of the country's independence. The current year has seen the successful conduct of important political events in the country in accordance with universally accepted democratic norms, including a referendum on the adoption of an updated constitution and presidential elections. Their outcomes have confirmed that the ongoing reforms will not be reversed. This has been reflected in the "Uzbekistan 2030" strategy.
The leader of Uzbekistan emphasized that the country pursues an open and pragmatic foreign policy in the face of increasing geopolitical tensions worldwide, weakening mutual trust, the emergence of new conflict hotspots in various regions, and rising threats to security and sustainable development.
Relationships with all countries of the world are systematically developing, based on mutual respect and practical cooperation. Multilateral partnership with the United Nations, other authoritative international organizations, and regional structures is being strengthened. This year, the country will host the summit of the Economic Cooperation Organization, the International Conference on Food Security under the auspices of the United Nations, and the jubilee session of the General Assembly of the World Tourism Organization. The head of state drew attention to a number of important issues regarding the enhancement of relations with countries represented by new ambassadors, aiming for a qualitatively and substantively new level.
Addressing the recently appointed Ambassador from China, the President noted that Beijing is one of our reliable and time-tested friends, with relations that have grown into a comprehensive strategic partnership over the years.
"The historic state visit of the Chairman of the People's Republic of China, Xi Jinping, to our country a year ago, and our fruitful meeting during the 'Central Asia – China' summit held in Xi'an this May, provided a powerful boost to bilateral relations," said the Uzbek leader.
In line with the implementation of agreements reached at the highest level, plans are underway to increase mutual trade, expand partnership with leading Chinese companies in high-tech and innovation sectors, execute joint projects and programs in the fields of "green" economy, digitalization, artificial intelligence, renewable energy, advanced industrial sectors, infrastructure, "smart" agriculture, medicine, pharmaceuticals, science, and technology. Special attention is given to accelerating education and cultural exchange. A high-level meeting is scheduled for October as part of the upcoming International Forum "One Belt, One Road" in China.
Malaysia is an important partner of Uzbekistan in Southeast Asia.
"Our relations consistently develop based on principles of mutual respect and traditional friendship. Our states' views and approaches on current global and regional issues are similar or close," stated the President of Uzbekistan.
The importance of further cooperation in electronics and electrical engineering, information technology, food industry, tourism, education, and other areas is highlighted, along with expanding partnerships with leading Malaysian companies, especially in the petrochemical sector. The Malaysian university "Binary" successfully operates in Tashkent and Urgench. Active reciprocal visits also lay a solid foundation for high-level meetings.
The United Kingdom, possessing immense political, economic, and intellectual potential worldwide, is a long-term and important partner of Uzbekistan. Over the years, broad connections have been established between the countries based on friendship and mutual respect, which steadily evolve, enriched with new projects and specific programs.
Partnership between parliaments, judicial bodies, ministries of justice, education, and finance is expanding. Uzbekistan and the United Kingdom closely collaborate within the United Nations and other authoritative international structures. In the economic direction, mutual trade volumes are growing at a high pace.
The head of Uzbekistan emphasized the country's interest in fully realizing the vast untapped potential in investment and innovation fields. He proposed implementing new joint projects in banking and finance, digital economy, "green" energy, geology, chemistry, and other priority areas.
Turkmenistan is our closest neighbor. Our peoples, shared language, religion, and traditions have lived side by side for many centuries. It was noted with satisfaction that relations between the countries have entered a new level in all spheres - politics, inter-parliamentary connections, trade and economy, transportation, energy, water and agriculture, cultural and humanitarian aspects.
The recent visit of the President of Uzbekistan to Ashgabat, productive negotiations with the national leader of the Turkmen people, Chairman of the People's Council of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, and the President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov, have further deepened the strategic partnership.
"We have tremendous potential to expand trade ties, strengthen economic cooperation, and implement concrete projects, increasing cargo transportation and transit volumes," said the leader of Uzbekistan.
Intent was expressed to continue multifaceted contacts, including close dialogue and the practice of mutual support within the framework of the United Nations, other leading international and regional organizations.
The People's Republic of Bangladesh is a rapidly growing nation in South Asia and across the Islamic world. The dialogue between the countries has intensified. "Roadmaps" have been adopted for political and trade-economic directions. Prospects for expanding partnership in textile, agriculture, pharmaceutical, and tourism sectors, as well as implementing new investment projects and joint programs, have been outlined.
In conclusion of the ceremony, the President of Uzbekistan wished the ambassadors great success in their responsible and honorable activities. He urged them to work more actively and visit each other's territories to further enhance relations between the countries and peoples.
The diplomats expressed sincere appreciation, thanked for the conditions created for productive work, and emphasized that all the knowledge and efforts at hand would be directed towards the further development of bilateral ties.
