Russia's Pskov city crosses International Airport targeted in drone attack on August 30, Meduza reported.
According governor of Pskov Region, Mikhail Vedernikovto, Russian military forces are responding to the drone attack.
"Since the beginning of the incident, I have been on-site personally. Preliminary information indicates no casualties. The extent of the damage is being assessed," stated the regional leader.
Local residents have reported hearing explosions and automatic gunfire, as reported by the "Pskovskaya guberniya" publication, which was among the first to report on the explosions near the airport.
Reports suggest that 10 to 20 drones were involved in the attack on the airport, and attempts are being made to shoot them down using small arms. The Russian Ministry of Defense has not yet commented on the incident. The airspace over Pskov, the region, and nearby areas has been completely closed for aircraft flights, as reported by Mash.
Aviation services confirmed to TASS that the airspace over Pskov and the region is restricted for aircraft flights. There were no civilian flights at Pskov Airport during the night on August 30. The attack may have also targeted an oil depot located near the airport, as mentioned by the "Pskovskaya guberniya" publication.
Another possibility is that the strike was directed at the Cherekhino military base, where the 104th Airborne Assault Regiment is stationed.
