Kyrgyzstan has executed an event called "Aikol" as part of a humanitarian mission to repatriate its citizens from a camp in Syria, media reports citing the country's Foreign Ministry. A total of 31 women and 64 children of Kyrgyz nationality were successfully transported back to Kyrgyzstan under special escort.
This achievement was made possible due to the coordinated efforts of various state bodies, including foreign policy, national security, healthcare, social security, and law enforcement agencies.
The Kyrgyz government expresses its sincere gratitude to the United States of America, UNICEF, and the International Committee of the Red Cross for their invaluable assistance and logistical support in facilitating this repatriation process.
In addition to successfully bringing citizens home, the Kyrgyzstan delegation also seized the opportunity to provide much-needed humanitarian aid in the form of medicine to the people of northeastern Syria.
In 2019, neighboring Uzbekistan embarked on a repatriation campaign for its citizens - primarily women and children - who were living in detention centers or specific areas of refugee camps in Iraq and Syria. The campaign, named "Mehr" or "kindness," was initiated by the President of Uzbekistan, who referred to the children as "his own.". This campaign showcased an exemplary level of political, financial, and logistical commitment towards facilitating their safe return and reintegration into society.
