The President of Kyrgyzstan visited the Hospital of Kyrgyz-Turkish Friendship in Bishkek, where for the first time a successful operation for transplantation of internal organs was carried out, the president's press service reports.
The hospital management said that the institution fully began to carry out such operations. For this, the hospital is equipped with qualified medical personnel, and modern medical equipment, which has no analogues in many countries yet. In addition, there are now 140 medical specialists from Turkey in Kyrgyzstan who will spend two to three years in the country and will train local doctors in practice.
During this period, domestic specialists will gain experience and independently begin to carry out kidney transplants.
Sadyr Japarov visited the patients who were transplanted for the first time, inquired about their health, well-being, and conditions of stay in the medical institution, and wished them a speedy recovery.
He noted that now the citizens of the country will not need to travel too far abroad to carry out vital and expensive operations. If abroad they incur colossal costs in the amount of $50,000 to $60,000, then in Kyrgyzstan, a similar operation will cost about $10,000. Due to such a low cost, domestic specialists will be able to serve patients from other countries.
Today in Kyrgyzstan there are about 2,600 patients receiving hemodialysis. For each patient, the state allocates an average of $73.65 per session. During the year, $28.3mn is allocated from the state budget to pay for these procedures. Now, having the opportunity to carry out operations on transplantation of internal organs in the country, these budget funds can be directed to the implementation of other social projects.
Addressing doctors from Turkey, Sadyr Japarov stressed that 140 specialists who arrived in the country can apply with any wishes. The Kyrgyz side undertakes to create all the necessary conditions for their comfortable stay in the country.
According to him, if in the future the demand for such operations by foreign citizens grows, then this direction must be further developed and expanded. He instructed to provide for the possibility of increasing the area of the plot of land where the medical institution is located for the construction of additional medical buildings and receiving more patients.
For great merits in the development of health care and training of medical personnel in Kyrgyzstan, the President awarded Kylych Selami, Director General for the European Union and External Relations of the Turkish Ministry of Health, and Mustafa, head of the department of the main management of state hospitals of the Turkish Ministry of Health, with a diploma of Kyrgyzstan.
