A recent report by the Bureau of National Statistics has revealed a notable increase in school stationery prices within Kazakhstan.
In July 2023, prices were 64.4% higher than those recorded in the same month of the previous year.
The report highlights that school notebooks experienced the most significant increase, with prices rising by 77.2%.
Ballpoint pens, colored pencils, and sketchbooks also saw price hikes of 38.6%, 41.9%, and 44.1%, respectively.
To assist families facing financial hardship, the Ministry of Education has announced that over 400,000 children will receive financial aid to purchase school uniforms and supplies.
Each student will receive KZT 40,567 (nearly $90.9), deposited into their parents' card accounts.
According to forecasts, the Stationery market worldwide is set to experience a significant rise between 2023 and 2030.
At present, the stationery market is being dominated by several regions, including North America (encompassing the United States, Canada, and Mexico), Europe (featuring Germany, the UK, France, Italy, Russia, Türkiye, and other nations), Asia-Pacific (encompassing China, Japan, Korea, India, Australia, Indonesia, Thailand, the Philippines, Malaysia, and Vietnam), South America (with Brazil, Argentina, Colombia, and other nations), and the Middle East and Africa (including Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Egypt, Nigeria, and South Africa).
Earlier, Daryo reported that Kazakhstan's Ministry of Industry and Infrastructure Development had created a resolution to protect the country's market, boost the economy, and assist domestic producers. The resolution aims to limit foreign suppliers from participating in public procurement of certain items, specifically paper used for writing, printing, or graphics.
