Representatives from the Guangzhou International Business Incubator (GIBI), known for specializing in biomedicine and IT technology, recently met with Uzbek diplomats to discuss potential areas of cooperation. The meeting involved a thorough exchange of ideas regarding the expansion of collaboration between Uzbek enterprises and GIBI in the realms of trade, economics, and investment, as well as the initiation of new investment projects, Dunyo has reported.
The Chinese delegates were apprised of recent reforms and investment opportunities in Uzbekistan, including adopting a new Constitution on April 30, which guarantees the enhancement of the business environment, support for entrepreneurship, and the protection of investor rights. The Chinese delegation was also allowed to establish production facilities within Uzbekistan and gain access to the vast CIS market, comprising over 300mn individuals.
The two sides reached agreements to organize a business forum in September this year, which Uzbek companies and members of the technopark will attend. The primary aim of the conference will be to hold B2B meetings to execute joint projects. Furthermore, a pavilion will be reserved for Uzbek products on the technopark's premises.
The management of Guangzhou International Business Incubator and representatives from its member Chinese companies have also been invited to Uzbekistan to explore the opportunities available for foreign investors.
GIBI is a state-owned science and technology business incubator established by the Guangzhou City Government in December 2000 and recognized by the Chinese Ministry of Science and Technology. GIBI has over 230 start-up projects and a workforce of over 3,000. Last year, the technopark's total production value amounted to $510mn.
