Representatives from the world's largest viscose companies visited Uzbekistan to meet with over 30 local enterprises to discuss the production of viscose and mixed fabrics and products, media reports.
Uzbekistan currently produces tiny quantities of viscose products, considered natural and accessible.
The Indonesian company, Asia Pacific Rayon, presented its ideas on how increasing viscose production in Uzbekistan could improve production performance and further develop the republic's textile industry.
Asia Pacific Rayon is the largest producer of viscose in Indonesia and ranks second in the world, producing natural and biodegradable viscose with a capacity of 300,000 tons.
Experts consider the development of natural and synthetic fibers to be a priority for the textile industry in Uzbekistan, as it can increase production and quality and expand the export potential of the republic. However, according to official statistics, in the first half of 2023, Uzbekistan reduced the production of yarn and exports of textile products.
There was a significant drop in the export of cotton yarn, which decreased by almost a third compared to the same period in 2022.
