Representatives of the State Customs Service of Turkmenistan and the Customs Committee of Uzbekistan discussed various aspects of electronic pre-information of customs authorities on goods and vehicles.
Uzbek colleagues shared the practice of using the pre-information system, including the International Road Transport Union's TIR-EPD application, and typical mistakes of carriers when working with it, the Turkmen side said in a press release.
TIR-EPD is an application that allows companies to simultaneously send electronic advance information on transport to the customs authorities of all countries on the route.
The 1,650km border with Uzbekistan is the longest for Turkmenistan.
A protocol on the organisation of exchange of preliminary information on goods and vehicles moving across the customs border between Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan was signed on 5 October 2021.
