The administrations of the railway companies of Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan - Türkmendemirýollary and O'zbekistontemiryo'llari held bilateral talks.
The meeting touched upon the issues of obtaining discounts on transit sections, as well as on individual cargoes exported and transited on the sections of Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan, the final press release reports.
"This is aimed at stimulating transit traffic and facilitating freight transport between the countries."
The meeting also expressed interest in developing throughput capacity and increasing containerised freight traffic along the Turkmenbashi-Farap/Khojadavlet route.
The parties considered the possibility of creating joint terminals for even more efficient and convenient cargo transportation.
Last year, the Uzbekistan-Turkmenistan-Iran-Turkey railway route with a total length of more than 4,500km was launched.
This corridor has become Uzbekistan's shortest and most convenient way for export-import operations with Turkey.
