Kyrgyzstan is planning to address water shortage problems in the country by constructing daily regulation pools, President Sadyr Japarov stated in an interview with the Kabar news agency.
He attributed the water scarcity to the impact of climate change, which has resulted in a decrease in water volume, particularly affecting the Chuy region. President Japarov emphasized the significance of these pools for fully supplying water to Bishkek and the Chuy Valley.
Although the existing pools from the Soviet era are currently operational, the government will now focus on building new ones in order to tackle the water shortage issue. President Japarov expressed his confidence that resolving this problem will pave the way for addressing other pressing issues faced by Kyrgyzstan.
He acknowledged that the government began its work during challenging times, but now a team of experts is actively working to overcome the country's problems. The president assured that in the near future, crucial matters like the water supply problem will be successfully addressed.
"If the country had built one swimming pool and hydroelectric power station every year since independence, now there would be 33 of them. This would significantly increase the country's electricity production capacity," the Kyrgyz leader concluded.
