A recent report from the press service of ATI.SU freight exchange shows a 77% increase in demand for cargo transportation to Uzbekistan during the first six months of 2023 compared to the same period last year.
The rise in demand has been observed from January to June, with Russian, Kazakh, Belarusian, and Chinese demand for freight transport also increasing significantly.
However, cargo transportation to Uzbekistan decreased by 31% in the second quarter, with a 30% reduction in the Russian sector.
Besides, there has been a 4% and 8% decrease in the number of placed applications for cargo transportation in the first half of the year and in the Russian direction, respectively, indicating a reversal in export transport growth.
Despite an 8% increase in export rates, Farid Vakhidov, director of the ATI.SU office in Uzbekistan, notes that the freight transport market is gradually rebalancing after last year's surge caused by sanctions against Russia and the restructuring of logistics and production routes.
While there may be a minor correction in the Russian direction, other directions, such as Kazakhstan and China, can potentially drive growth.
