The Florida governor, who is also running for the 2024 Republican nomination, was involved in a car accident while travelling to an event in Chattanooga, Tennessee on the morning of July 25. Fortunately, both he and his team were uninjured in the incident. The accident occurred when traffic slowed down, causing four cars in the motorcade to collide, resulting in one staff member sustaining a minor injury, reported Sky News.
Despite the accident, the governor's representatives stated that he would proceed with his scheduled event in central and eastern Tennessee on July 25. As a prominent figure in the Republican party and considered one of the main challengers to former president Donald Trump in the 2024 Republican contest, this incident drew attention to his campaign.
Recent polls have indicated that Mr. DeSantis trails behind Donald Trump, with the former president receiving 51% of the people's first-choice support, while his younger rival obtained only 22% in a survey conducted last month. The car accident adds a momentary challenge to Mr. DeSantis's campaign, but he continues to be a significant contender in the race as the political landscape unfolds leading up to the 2024 presidential elections.
