MP Rasul Kusherbayev has assured residents living near the Scientific Institute of Silk, which is set to relocate from Tashkent to Andijan, that all 18,000 trees in the vicinity will remain unharmed.
The concerns expressed by the local community regarding the preservation of the surrounding trees have been taken into consideration and addressed accordingly.
The Ministry of Ecology, Environmental Protection, and Climate Change officials assessed the health of trees in the Silk Research Institute's Tashkent territory and plantation.
MP Rasul Kusherbayev announced that all trees on the Institute's premises will be pruned to preserve and protect them. The adviser to the Minister of Ecology, Environmental Protection, and Climate Change expressed support for saving trees and stated that no trees will be cut in the future.
Animals continue to be at risk and in need of protection
In a recent update on her Telegram page, MP Elena Babenko shared that her colleague Rasul Kusherbayev has announced that deputies develop a bill that aligns with the presidential decree to strengthen penalties for acts of animal abuse.
'Thank you, Rasul Khidralievich! Unfortunately, Rasul Kusherbayev, like many others, was unaware of the full extent of the problem',
Elena Babenko stated.
MP thanked her fellow colleague for his actions, including subscribing to zoo groups, contacting Iroda Matkarimova, the founder of the Hayot shelter, and inviting her to the Legislative Chamber.
'We should adopt a specific law that would comply with international best practices and national specifics. Furthermore, the new bill should clearly define a specially authorized body in the field of animal welfare supervision that would also monitor the implementation of animal care, treatment, and stray animal population growth, since now there is no control over owned and homeless pets, there is no unified system to account animals, and the services dealing with these issues relate to different structures,'
Elena Babenko noted in late 2022. In her viewpoint, the new law should introduce liability for animal abandonment, uncontrolled reproduction, neglect, or a failure to provide for the animal's basic needs. She also stressed that it is necessary to strengthen the liability for animal cruelty by increasing the penalties to help fund local dog and cat shelters. In addition, MP advises abolishing stray animal trapping services.
Animal cruelty is a pervasive issue locally, with frequent occurrences documented on social media and local news outlets. Stray dogs and cats are particularly vulnerable.
