From January to April 2023, Kazakhstan produced 280,000 tons of refined and unrefined vegetable oil, a 15.5% increase from the previous year.
Energyprom.kz experts report that the East Kazakhstan region had the highest production, with 26,500 tons of refined and 73,700 tons of crude oil.
Abay and Almaty were second and third in the production of unrefined oil, while Almaty and Shymkent topped the list for refined oil.
However, production of refined sunflower oil decreased by 27.4% to 47,900 tons, and cottonseed oil fell by 8.5% to 5,100 tons.
Local companies cut demand for vegetable oil to 79.2% compared to the previous year's 83%, while imports increased by 54.7% to 59,400 tons and exports increased by 27.6% to 117,200 tons, accounting for 41.1% of resources.
Domestic sales reached 167,800 tons, a 25.3% increase from the previous year.
