Rospotrebnadzor, a Russian consumer rights watchdog, has issued a warning to tourists, emphasising the need to take necessary precautions to prevent contracting this and other illnesses.
To minimise risk, tourists are advised to wear clothing that covers their skin as much as possible and employ insect repellents and insecticides to deter and eliminate insects. Additionally, it is crucial to ensure the security of windows and doors when indoors. Travellers who have recently returned from Egypt are strongly encouraged to contact medical professionals if their health deteriorates, mentioning their recent vacation.
Dengue fever is characterised by symptoms such as muscle and joint pain, rash, fever, discomfort behind the eyes, nausea and vomiting, swollen glands, as well as pains in the joints, bones, or muscles. In severe cases, the disease can progress to a stage where bleeding becomes a possibility.
As per the World Health Organization (WHO), dengue fever commonly manifests as flu-like symptoms that persist for a period of 2 to 7 days. These symptoms typically appear 4 to 10 days following a mosquito bite from an infected insect.
