The Minister of Energy Almasadam Satkaliyev announced that the shortage shortage of AI-95 gasoline in Kazakhstan, occurred due to scheduled and unexpected maintenance work at Kazakh oil refineries.
"We have observed a trend of AI-95 gasoline shortage. This is due to the maintenance work conducted at the Shymkent Petrochemical Plant, as well as the emergency shutdown of the Atyrau plant. Currently, the necessary volume of fuel has been accumulated at oil depots and plants, and the shipment of this type of fuel is being carried out according to the requests from local authorities. However, disruptions are possible in areas with higher consumption. The deficit will be covered through domestic supplies," said Minister of Energy Almasadam Satkaliyev.
Satkaliyev also mentioned that speculators might take advantage of the fuel shortage. Unlike AI-92 and diesel, the prices of AI-95 gasoline in the country are not regulated. The Minister promised that Kazakhstan would purchase fuel from abroad and monitor its distribution across regions.
"AI-95 gasoline is an unregulated type of fuel, and fuel station owners have the right to increase prices. As the Ministry of Energy, we can provide price indicators as recommendations. We are conducting this work with product owners, network operators, and fuel station companies to prevent a sharp price increase for this type of fuel," added Satkaliyev.
The Minister of Energy Almasadam Satkaliyev informs that disruptions are possible in areas with high consumption, but the shortage will be covered through domestic supplies in the near future.
