President Shavkat Mirziyoyev of Uzbekistan met with Sergey Lebedev, the General Secretary of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) observer mission, on July 10, the President's press service reports.
The meeting began with Lebedev congratulating President Mirziyoyev on his victory in the presidential election and extending well wishes for the country's stable development and prosperity. The General Secretary praised the election, stating that it was conducted in accordance with international standards.
The meeting also focused on discussing opportunities for expanding mutually beneficial cooperation within the CIS. Over the past years, Uzbekistan has signed more than 40 agreements with the Commonwealth and joined 24 sectoral bodies. The first meeting of the advisory council of the heads of the election commissions of CIS member states took place in Tashkent, where the implementation of programs and projects aimed at enhancing multilateral partnership was a key topic of discussion.
