Andi Aranitasi has been appointed as the Director and Head of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) Representative Office in Uzbekistan, Gazeta.uz has reported referring to the bank's press service.
With dual citizenship in Albania and the United Kingdom, Andi Aranitasi brings over 25 years of experience in the banking industry as well as expertise in sectors such as manufacturing, telecommunications, agribusiness, real estate, tourism, and energy. During his tenure at the EBRD, he held various leadership positions in the bank's energy divisions, overseeing the development, implementation, and management of energy projects in Turkey and Southeast Europe.
Prior to his appointment in Uzbekistan, he represented the EBRD in North Macedonia. Andi Aranitasi holds a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration and Applied Economics from the American University in Bulgaria. He will succeed Alkis Drakinos, who has been leading the EBRD's activities in Uzbekistan since the resumption of cooperation with the country in 2017 and who has been appointed as the Regional Head of the EBRD's Caucasus Office in Tbilisi.
To date, the EBRD has invested over 4.37 bn euros in 144 projects in Uzbekistan's economy. Uzbekistan has been the leading recipient of the bank's financing in Central Asia for the third consecutive year.
