The head of the OSCE/ODIHR mission, Ursula Gachek, said in an interview with the media that the main focus will be given to a thorough analysis of the processes of the presidential elections in Uzbekistan.
Ursula Gachek states that 250 international observers are participating in the presidential elections in Uzbekistan and they are working in remote areas such as Takhtakupyr.
"Summing up our entire work, we adhere to a clearly defined, precise methodology, full transparency, and thorough analysis of the ongoing processes," says Ursula Gachek.
The head of the OSCE/ODIHR mission informs that they are monitoring four different aspects.
"Our representatives visited the polling stations one hour before the start of the process and observed the state of preparation. Observers filled out over a hundred questionnaires on the progress of the preparations for the opening of the polling stations. Our team dedicated to statistics is studying these documents," said the head of the OSCE/ODIHR mission.
"We provide all the data online, and they are immediately analysed. After 8 PM, when the polling stations are closed, the observation of the vote count will continue. The process in 14 district polling stations is also of great importance in our observations. The behaviour of the district electoral commissions, which transmit data to the Central Election Commission (CEC), will be analysed," stated Ursula Gachek, the head of the OSCE/ODIHR mission.
Ursula Gachek met with the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev earlier. Ursula Gachek did not disclose the details of her conversation with President Shavkat Mirziyoyev. Ursula says the meeting, which took place on July 3 and lasted about 90 minutes, was very open. She mentioned that some of the OSCE's recommendations had been implemented in the electoral process, while others remained unfulfilled. However, the organisation will continue to provide recommendations, which will be reflected in the forthcoming election report.
The main voting day which was scheduled for July 9 is to finish after 8 PM, when the polling stations are closed.
