Following an emergency government meeting in response to Israel's "anti-terrorist" operation in Jenin, Palestine has declared the severance of all ties with Israel, The Times of Israel reports.
In a statement issued after the meeting, Palestine reiterated the right to self-defense for Palestinians and called upon the United Nations Security Council to take several actions. These include the implementation of resolutions to halt Israeli settlements in the West Bank, ensure the protection of the Palestinian people at the international level, cease unilateral measures, and impose sanctions on Tel Aviv. Additionally, Palestine is seeking the termination of Israel's UN membership.
The Palestinian leadership announced that the Aqaba and Sharm el-Sheikh agreements of 2023, which aimed to ease tensions between Israel and Palestine, have been violated by Israel and are no longer considered valid.
Furthermore, Palestine has decided to limit its relations with Washington and plans to file lawsuits against the United States and Great Britain regarding the Balfour Declaration. They are demanding an apology and compensation for the declaration, which was an official letter sent by British Foreign Minister Arthur Balfour in 1917, expressing support for allocating land to Jews in Palestine.
On July 2, the Israeli army launched a major military operation in Jenin, resulting in more than ten airstrikes and the deployment of forces to the northern coastal region. The operation may extend to other cities, particularly Samaria, which borders Jenin.
The Israeli military has reported a death toll of 10 Palestinians as of the evening of July 3, but the actual number of casualties is expected to be higher. Over 500 Palestinian families are being evacuated from the refugee camp in Jenin, with more than 70 wounded individuals receiving medical treatment, 20 of whom are in serious condition, according to Ahmad Jabril, a representative of the Red Crescent Society.
