In June, the consumer price index fell by 0.29%, marking the most significant seasonal deflation since 2019, as per the State Statistics Committee's stated, Spot.uz reports.
Since the beginning of the year, inflation has reached 3.45%, which indicates an average monthly increase of 0.57%. The January to June period has seen the lowest inflation rate in five years, compared to 6.5% last year. The annual inflation as of July 1st stood at 9.03%, slowing down to a twelve-month minimum. In all three main categories—food, non-food goods, and services—prices fell by approximately 0.3% per month. Food products became the main driver of seasonal deflation. Compared to the previous month, food prices decreased by 1.1%, and the annual price growth slowed down to 10.5%—the lowest rate in five years.
In June, the prices of rice (2.8%), non-alcoholic beverages (1.3%), meat (1.1%), fish (0.8%), and sugar (0.7%) increased the most among food products. Vegetables decreased on average by 13.8%, fruits and nuts by 2.3%, and oils and fats by 1.3%.
Over the year, tomatoes experienced the sharpest price increase, almost doubling in price. Additionally, the prices of onions (34.1%), carrots (20.9%), beans (20.6%), lemons (20.4%), and cabbage (20.1%) noticeably rose. On the other hand, eggplants and bell peppers decreased in price by half, while the prices of grapes and watermelons fell by over a quarter.
Non-food goods increased by 3.1% since the beginning of the year and 7.9% compared to the previous June. The price growth for several categories slowed down: clothing and footwear currently experience a monthly increase of 0.3% and an annual increase of 6.6%, furniture 0.4% and 6.9%, and household appliances 0.5% and 7.4% respectively.
In June, gasoline prices increased by an average of 2.2%, propane by 0.7%. At the same time, medicine prices increased by 0.5% (16.6% compared to the previous June).
In the services sector, prices have risen by 2.9% since the beginning of the year and by 8% compared to the previous June. The restaurant and hotel sector experienced the highest growth. In one month, catering prices increased by 3.4%, and hotel accommodation by 1.2%.
Rent prices for housing increased by only 0.2% in June. However, the effect of the autumn 2022 rally is still felt, with an annual increase of 24%.
