Uzbekistan's Ministry of Justice's Department of Intellectual Property on July 3 reported a violation of brand rights for Snickers and Bounty.
The owner of these trademarks, Mars Inc., was represented by a trusted source who reported that an Uzbek company called A.B. was producing and selling ice cream under the names Snikers and Bount, which sound and spell similar to Mars Inc.'s brands.
After an audit, an administrative protocol was drawn up against A.B. under Article 177, paragraph 1, and the packaging of counterfeit products was ordered to be recycled.
Earlier in May, A.B. was inspected for producing counterfeit chocolate bars under the names Strikers, Maris, and Bonti.
