Uzbekistan's passport has been ranked 71st in the world in terms of its strength, as per the Passport Index website.
The ranking, which was published in April 2022, revealed that the Uzbekistan passport had climbed eight spots from its previous position of 63rd. In 2021, it ranked 86th among the most powerful passports globally.
Currently, holders of the Uzbekistan passport can enjoy visa-free travel to 26 countries. Additionally, they have the option to obtain a visa upon arrival in 45 additional countries. Unfortunately, citizens of Uzbekistan are still required to obtain an appropriate visa to enter a staggering 127 countries, highlighting the significant limitations they face compared to those with more privileged passports. During the Covid-19 pandemic, the Uzbekistan passport managed to gain strength and ranked 47. However, this marginal deteriorated year to year, as the passport's ranking returned to its 2015 rank. The reasons behind this recession remain obscure and unknown.
Meanwhile, the United Arab Emirates (UAE) holds the top position with the most powerful passport in the world. UAE citizens enjoy visa-free access to an impressive 125 countries, and in another 55 countries, they can obtain a visa upon arrival, providing them with extensive travel privileges.
On the other end of the spectrum, Afghanistan occupies the last position in the ranking. Citizens of Afghanistan face significant travel restrictions, with only five countries allowing visa-free entry. In 35 other countries, they can obtain a visa upon arrival, reflecting the challenges faced by Afghan travelers.
The Passport Index website regularly evaluates passport strength based on the number of countries that can be visited without a visa or with visa-on-arrival privileges. Such rankings help individuals and governments assess the global mobility and travel advantages associated with different passports.
