Wide public sharply objects to the idea of having artists and performers openly supporting the war between Russia and Ukraine appearing on the world stage.
In many countries, their concert activities are restricted. In particular, the International Music Festival "Jara" meaning "Hot" in Russian scheduled for May in Uzbekistan was postponed after a sharp public protest.
On July 3, at an event in the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, Deputy Minister of Culture and Tourism Bahodir Ahmedov commented on the question of imposing restrictions on the concert in Uzbekistan for pro-Kremlin singers or vice versa.
"Everything can have boundaries, but art is a sphere without boundaries. We have singers of theatrical and pop music genres who respect and honor art. They have no connection to how certain countries treat each other. No matter which country they come from, saying that they will respect art, serve the people, showcase the heights of art, and that they are true artists, Uzbekistan has no reason to close its doors and trample on any artist. They come, demonstrate their art, receive applause, and leave," said Bahodur Ahmedov.
The Deputy Minister noted that rumors about the proceeds from the concerts going towards the war are far from the truth.
"There is no barrier to art in Uzbekistan. We live in a peaceful country. Many artists from the Turkic Council organization of Turkic states have come. They perform, receive applause from the audience. They organize photo exhibitions.
Our people are artistic people. While someone is using money somewhere, they do it in that way," - says some people. We should avoid making statements like these. Do you really think that the money generated from the concert will have any impact on the war? Those who fight for peace should themselves live peacefully.
When one permission is issued, they relate it to the war, and if something else, they relate it to something else. We should act only with good intentions, with high intentions. People should think about the good side of everything, not the bad. It should be noted that this artist came here to showcase their art. Our goal is to support whether our youth wants art. This is our policy," said Bahodir Ahmedov.
The Deputy Minister noted that the concert of artists openly supporting the war in neighboring countries will be postponed, "flank forces have their own policies, their own world. Let them answer for themselves, we answer for ourselves," he commented.
Why is everyone refusing to hold the festival?
The majority of singers performing at the festival with their songs are representatives of the Russian show business. Among them are singers like Grigory Leps, Philipp Kirkorov, Timati, Olga Buzova, and Sergey Lazarev, who openly support the war of Russia on Ukraine. For this reason, citizens of the host country organized large-scale virtual protests against the festival on social media. They believe that the performances of Russian artists in Kazakhstan indicate that the republic "supports the war in Ukraine."
