At the beginning of the event, the American side was informed about comprehensive reforms aimed at creating equal rights and opportunities for women in Uzbekistan, ensuring their equal participation in the management of society and the state, providing social support to women, and protecting them from oppression and violence.
The participants of the roundtable were also briefed on the extensive work being carried out in our country to guarantee freedom of speech and press in Uzbekistan, as well as the reforms for democratizing state power, promoting openness, transparency, freedom of speech, and supporting civil and public engagement.
American participants acknowledged being well-informed about the significant achievements made in combatting violence against women and children in our country, and they closely monitor the ongoing reforms in Uzbekistan. They highly praised the consistent steps taken towards building the New Uzbekistan, which serves as a model for the Central Asian region, showcasing the potential for profound changes within a short period.
Janis Helwig, Senior Policy Advisor of the U.S. Commission on Security and Cooperation in Europe (Helsinki Commission), stated, "Uzbekistan is making significant progress in implementing democratic reforms, including the protection of human rights and freedoms, ending forced and child labor, ensuring freedom of religion, strengthening freedom of speech and the press, and the Helsinki Commission supports these efforts", Janis Helwig, Senior Policy Advisor of the U.S. Commission on Security and Cooperation in Europe (Helsinki Commission), stated.
As a result of the roundtable, a decision was made to hold regular meetings with responsible U.S. congressional staff members on Uzbekistan to facilitate a continuous exchange of ideas on empowering women in society and promoting gender equality.
