The cost of poultry meat in Kazakhstan surged by 14% last year. Chicken breast, thigh, and drumstick saw the highest increase of over 20%, while chicken legs' price went up by 9%, according to media reports.
The Pavlodar region experienced the most significant surge of almost 28%, whereas the Aktobe region had the smallest increase of nearly 3%. In contrast, the Turkestan region experienced a 2% decrease in prices. Poultry farms were also affected by these changes, according to analysts.
Last year, consumers preferred buying fresh or chilled chicken meat, resulting in a 23% increase in revenue. On the other hand, the production of frozen meat dropped by 6%.
The Central Asian country produced over 40,000 tons of frozen meat and 46,000 tons of fresh or chilled poultry meat between January and April.
