Kazakhstan's government has announced plans to increase the share of renewable energy to 15% by 2030, media reports.
Prime Minister Alikhan Smailov expressed the republic's interest in expanding trade and economic partnership, particularly in green energy and transport. Smailov also discussed implementing new joint projects with European countries, citing the memorandum of understanding signed last year on sustainable raw materials, batteries, and green hydrogen.
The Prime Minister highlighted the importance of the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route and its potential for linking with the Trans-European Transport Network and the Global Gateway initiative.
EU Ambassador to Kazakhstan Kestutis Jankauskas praised regional initiatives to develop transport infrastructure and optimize logistics processes and expressed the European Union's commitment to supporting Kazakhstan's transition to a zero-emissions economy through specific projects of their companies and banks.
