Uzbekistan's Chatkal Biosphere Reserve has recently captured rare footage of a Tien-Shan brown bear, a species listed in Uzbekistan's International and Red Book.
The Ministry of Ecology, Environment, and Climate Change shared this sighting, which occurred 1,500-3,500 meters above sea level.
The Tien-Shan brown bear is a majestic mammal that can grow up to 2.2 meters in length and weigh up to 200 kg.
The range of the omnivorous brown bear, Ursus arctos, has been decreasing in North America, Europe, and Asia. The IUCN red list has classified the isolated brown bear populations in Central Asian countries as Vulnerable or Endangered.
