The first outside-China super observation station for climate and the environment along the Belt and Road (B&R) has recently commenced operations in Tajikistan, as announced by Lanzhou University. Located in Shaartuz, Tajikistan, the station provides extensive data on dust, pollutants, and meteorological elements in key areas of Central Asia.

Huang Jianping, a professor at Lanzhou University, noted that the station could provide warnings for meteorological disasters and countermeasures to climate change.
The B&R climate and environment observation network, which was jointly constructed by government authorities and institutions of China and other countries, includes this station as a crucial component.
Initiated by Lanzhou University in 2016, the observation network has over 20 designed stations along the B&R countries and regions, with seven stations already launched in China and one in Pakistan's Peshawar city.
