In the capital of Kazakhstan, an armed man has seized Kaspi Bank, which only had employees present, with no customers, according to the bank.
The Ministry of Internal Affairs of Kazakhstan clarified that a man with a gun broke into a branch of the Kaspi Bank on Druzhby Street and chained himself to the building from the inside. Later, a photo spread on social networks, in which an armed man puts a gun to the head of one of the hostages.
The invader demanded that all of the bank's assets be transferred to disabled children, the underprivileged, and those in need, and threatened to kill the hostages, local media in Kazakhstan reports.
Representatives of law enforcement were negotiating with the man who posed a threat to the employees, as stated by the press service of Kaspi Bank.
During the storming of the bank, the intruder was detained, and four hostages were freed.
"There was a loud explosion, the bank doors shook, and the special forces entered," shared a journalist from SputnikKZ.
One of the police officers required medical assistance after the storming of the Kaspi Bank building in Astana and his colleagues had to help him walk.
