The Uzbek Ambassador, Mukhsinghoja Abdurakhmanov, recently engaged in discussions with Nabi Mamadzhan, the head of the Japanese company, 'Nippon Investment Operating Corporation (NIOC)', and his partner, Pan Jongsin, the CEO of 'Muroosystem', alongside representatives from Uzbekistan’s Ministry of Emergency Situations, Dunyo reports.
The parties mutually agreed that Japanese companies would undertake a project to prevent natural disasters in Uzbekistan. The Japanese side expressed their willingness to visit Uzbekistan at the earliest opportunity to discuss the pilot project with the Ministry of Emergency Situations and other relevant agencies.
Reportedly, Uzbekistan is prone to major disasters such as earthquakes, droughts, landslides, epidemics, and floods.
Disaster risk reduction is solidly entrenched as a key development strategy, with 25 targets pertaining to it in 10 of the 17 sustainable development goals.
