Following his victory in the May 28 elections in Turkey with 52.2% of total votes, Recep Tayyip Erdogan had his inauguration ceremony on May 3, which was attended by world leaders.
One of the attendees was Uzbekistan's President Shavkat Mirziyoyev who arrived in Turkey after the EU-Central Asia summit in Kyrgyzstan on June 2. Also in attendance was the president of Kazakhstan, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev.
“I, as president, swear upon my honor and integrity before the great Turkish nation and history to safeguard the existence and independence of the state,” - says Erdogan at his ceremony.
Political scientists expect some hardships during this presidential term of Erdogan, due to rising inflation rates which have reached 43.7%. The West is waiting for Erdogan's approval of Sweden joining NATO, he approved Finalands accession, however, has previously stated his unwillingness for Sweden's joining. His disapproval regarding Sweden depends on, in Erdogan's words, Sweden's extradition of 'terrorists' on Turkish request.
