Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan stated in an interview that Armenia is not an ally of Russia in the war against Ukraine, CNN reports.
He emphasized that while there may be assumptions about Armenia's alignment with Russia, they are not involved in the conflict and are only concerned about its impact on their relations. Pashinyan highlighted that the West pays attention to the perception of Armenia as a Russian ally, while Moscow understands that Armenia does not support military operations in Ukraine.
Thus, he concluded that Armenia is not allied with any party in this situation. Additionally, Pashinyan previously mentioned that Western sanctions against Russia are a "red line" for Armenia due to the potential negative consequences.
Furthermore, he expressed concerns about the Collective Security Treaty Organization's (CSTO) stance towards Armenia and mentioned the possibility of suspending or freezing Armenia's membership in the organization if their requests for a monitoring mission are not addressed.
