A new joint venture, UTK International Logistics, has been established by China and Uzbekistan to strengthen container transportation links, according to Uzbekistan’s Ministry of Transport.

The grand opening ceremony took place on July 10 in Beijing, marking a new phase of cooperation between Uzbekistan’s Uztemiryulkonteyner and China’s Xinjiang Union of Railway International Logistics.
The new company, based in Urumqi, will focus on consolidating cargo, securing Chinese subsidies, and developing multimodal transport routes across the China-Central Asia corridor.
Officials from both countries emphasized the joint venture's strategic importance in expanding cross-border cargo flows and enhancing connectivity between China and Uzbekistan.
According to the Ministry, the company is expected to launch its first container trains on the China–Kyrgyzstan–Uzbekistan route once organizational procedures are finalized.
"This joint venture will strengthen transport ties between the two countries and boost Uzbekistan's role as a key player in regional logistics," the Ministry of Transport noted.
Uzbekistan aims to increase its container transport volumes by at least 1.5 times by 2030, as per Uztemiryulkonteyner.
In addition, to deepen regional cooperation, an agreement was reached with China's Gansu International Logistics Group to launch new container services along the China–Kyrgyzstan–Uzbekistan–Tajikistan/Turkmenistan corridor, with the first trains expected in the third quarter of 2025.
